The RS409 and RS419 scanners are corded wearable ring scanners. They do not have a built-in battery — instead, they draw power and communicate via a cable that connects to a wearable terminal (like the WT4090 or WT41N0). zebra.cn+1

According to the RS409 Quick Reference Guide, there are two variants of the cable: short cable (for wrist-mounted wearable) and long cable (for hip-mounted pickers). zebra.cn

The wearable terminal provides the required voltage (3.1 V to 3.6 V) to the ring scanner via this cable. 

Purpose:
This flex cable connects the SE4500 scan engine (2D imager) to the mainboard of the MC9190‑G device. It carries both data signals and power from the scan engine to the device logic board.

Compatible Models: Motorola / Symbol MC9190‑G series that use the SE4500 2D imager.

Scan Engine: ZEBRA SE4500 (2D Imaging Engine)

• Supports 1D and 2D barcode scanning

• Used in MC9190‑G models where 2D scanning is required instead of SE965 (1D only).

It is a double-ended cable — one end connects to the MC9500 / MC95xx device, the other to a USB port on a host computer. Barcode Datalink

For proper charging, this cable requires a power supply (part number KT-14000-148R) and a country-specific 3-wire grounded AC line cord.

Common Issues / Why Replace

• Cracks / Fractures: Dropping the device or impact can crack the back shell.

• Wear: Over time, plastic may wear or the finish may degrade.

• Mounting Damage: Screws or clip‑mounts may break, especially if the device has been opened many times.

• Aesthetic / Refurb: For refurbishment or resale, replacing a scratched or discolored back shell restores device appearance.

Installation / Replacement Notes

• Power down and remove the battery before opening / replacing the back shell.

• Unscrew the necessary screws / detach clips to remove the old back housing. (Refer to service / parts teardown guides if available.)

• Carefully transfer any internal components (PCB, battery-door mechanism) from old housing to the new one.

• Make sure any gaskets / seals (if used) are placed properly so that the device retains its sealing / dust resistance.

• Reassemble and test all functions — battery fit, scanning, strap mount, etc.
