Useful in logistics / warehouse / industrial environments where workers use TE (Terminal Emulator) applications for tasks like inventory, picking, dispatch, etc.

The programmable keys (P1, P2) and function keys allow customizing key behavior depending on your software’s needs.

This keypad provides a balance: 53 keys give you alphanumeric capability + special / function keys without making the device too bulky.

Material & Build

• The flex cable is made of a thin, flexible substrate that can bend / route through the internal chassis of the handheld, without breaking.

• The connector side (that meets the battery) has metal contact pins / pads which are robust enough to endure repeated insertion / removal of the battery.

• Designed for durability — since the battery may be swapped or removed, the flex must sustain mechanical stress (bending as well as insertion force).

Role in Device Functionality

• Powers the device: Without a working battery connector & flex, the device may not get power from the battery (or may lose it intermittently).

• Charging: When the device is in a cradle / charger, the battery is charged. The flex assembly ensures that charge current flows reliably.

• Hot-swap support: MC9300 supports “hot-swap battery backup” (i.e., the battery can be swapped while keeping the session). Zebra Technologies A stable battery connector assembly is critical for reliable hot-swap behavior.

This is the transparent (plastic / glass) “window” at the tip of the ring scanner through which the laser or scan beam emits.

It protects the internal scan engine / optics from dust, scratches, and impact, while allowing the scan light to pass.

Over time, this window can get scratched or cracked, which may degrade scan performance (especially for precise or low‑contrast barcodes).

Common Issues / Why Replace It

• Wear / Fading: The printed legends may fade due to continuous keypresses, making keys hard to read.

• Scratches / Damage: The plastic surface may get scratched, cracked or chipped.

• Peeling / Lifting: Over time, the overlay may start lifting at the edges, especially near frequently used keys.

• Dirt Build-up: Under or around the overlay, dirt / dust can accumulate, affecting feel or esthetics.

• Refurbishing: In a used device, replacing the overlay gives a “fresh” look and restores the keypad’s readability.

Installation Notes

• Remove / power off the device before replacing the overlay.

• Carefully peel off the old plastic cover. Use a small spudger / plastic pry tool so as not to damage the keys beneath.

• Clean the key surface where the overlay sits — remove dust / residues to get a good bonding.

• Align the new overlay precisely (key by key) so legends match the keycaps.

• Press gently but firmly to adhere the overlay to the keypad. Some overlays may have a backing or adhesive — check the product spec.
